Useful Shortcuts

A good shortcut to start with would be to bookmark this page
by pressing CTRL+D
(You can use CTRL+D in IE, Firefox & Chrome browsers, to quickly add
any web-page to your Favorites list)
We have carefully-selected the following shortcuts and find that they are
time-saving when used on a regular basis - we hope you find them helpful
too
General Windows / Windows-Explorer :
- Windows Key + D : Minimize ALL windows (pressed again opens up all windows)
- Windows Key + E : Opens up a new Windows-Explorer window
- F2 - Rename highlighted file or folder
- F5 - Refresh current file-window - useful also in a browser for half-loaded pages
General Application-shortcuts :
- CTRL+F : opens up the Find window
- CTRL+W: Close current document/file/web-page etc
- CTRL+S : Save Document
- CTRL+O: Open Document
- CTRL+A: Select All - useful for both text and file copying
- CTRL+C : Copy selection to Paste Buffer
- CTRL+X : Cut selection to Paste Buffer
- CTRL+V : Paste Selection
- CTRL+Z : Undo last command
- CTRL+CLICK : Selects sentence in Word or paragraph in OutLook etc
- CTRL+RIGHTARROW : Move cursor full word at a time -
very timesaving
Word Processing : - ALT+SHIFT+D: Insert Date Field
- CTRL+M: Indent selected text
- CTRL+SHIFT+M: Remove Indent
- CTRL+ENTER: Insert Page Break
- CTRL+Backspace: delete last word (works in OutLook too - great timesaver!)
- CTRL+F10: Maximise document window
- Shift+F3: Change case of selected text (toggles between upper, lower & mixed)
- CTRL+SHIFT+A: change selected text to all UPPER Case
- CTRL+G: goto specific page number
- CTRL+J: Justify to fit column or page sides
- CTRL+R: Right Justify (and CTRL+L for Left)
- CTRL+N: Start New Document
- CTRL+P: Print (and CTRL+F2 Print Preview)
- CTRL+1: Single Line Spacing of selected text
- CTRL+D : Format Font - really useful in Word to quickly reformat selected text
- F12 Save As
Excel : - CTRL+1 - bring up Format Cell dialogue-box
- SHIFT+CTRL+$ : format selected cell as currency, with 2 decimal places
- ALT+= : apply AutoSum (just hold ALT and type '+=' immediately under column)
- CTRL+: (Control key then Semicolon key) - insert current date in active cell
